Breaking News: Magnitude 4.5 Earthquake Strikes Near California Coast

4.5 quake, 11,000 residents evacuated

Minor damage, no injuries reported

Los Angeles, California - A magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook the Southern California coast on Tuesday morning, causing minor damage but no reported injuries. The quake struck at approximately 5:00 AM PST, centered about 5 miles (8 kilometers) west of the city of Inglewood.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the quake was located at a depth of 5.3 miles (8.5 kilometers) beneath the Earth's surface. The quake was felt throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area, as well as in surrounding counties. Residents reported feeling the shaking for several seconds.

As a precaution, approximately 11,000 residents were evacuated from their homes in the affected area. Emergency crews are currently conducting inspections to assess the damage and ensure the safety of residents.

While no injuries have been reported, the quake caused some minor damage to buildings and infrastructure. Cracks were reported in several roads, and some power lines were downed. Electrical crews are working to restore power to the affected areas.

Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and to follow the instructions of local officials. Aftershocks are possible in the coming days, and residents are advised to be prepared.
